Conversion Rate
Share of clicks that lead to a defined goal — a purchase, a lead, a signup.
Conversion rate (CVR) is the percentage of clicks that turn into a conversion — a defined goal like a purchase, a lead submission, or a newsletter signup. Formula: (conversions ÷ clicks) × 100.
Example: 1,000 clicks on your Shopify product page, 25 buy. Conversion rate = 2.5%. In ecommerce, 1-3% is the baseline, 4-5% is strong, 10%+ is exceptional. SaaS free-trial signups can run 5-15%.
Conversion rate is the highest-leverage variable in performance marketing. Doubling CVR cuts your cost per acquisition in half — far more efficient than spending more on traffic.
